Missions & Service

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” And I said, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.” ~Isaiah 6:8

We are continually striving to “equip disciples of Jesus Christ for mission and ministry.” We seek to make ways available for everyone to offer their prayers, presence, gifts and service to be used by God for the work of Christ’s kingdom. That’s the full meaning of “stewardship” — the faithful use of what God has given us for God’s work in the church and the world. This happens within our congregation, in the community, and literally around the world.

At First United Methodist Church, we answer the Lord’s call in so many different ways. We seek to provide the opportunity for all people to be in mission, whether that is within the church, in our community, or around the world. Our Missions Ministry includes 6 different mission teams. Our choir and praise band invite folks to use their talents in worship. Our education ministry relies on volunteers in the nursery and sunday school, in bible study and in book clubs. Our worship ministry involves ushers, liturgists, and greeters. We invite you to explore the Missions and Service section of our website to find ways that you might also respond, “Here I am, Lord. Send me!”
